5And King David came as far as Bahurim, and behold, from there a man was coming out from the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei son of Gera; he came out cursing.6And he stoned David with stones and all the servants of King David and all the people and all the men from his right and from his left.7And Shimei said this as he cursed: "Go out, go out, man of the Bloods and man of Belial!"8The LORD has brought back upon you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you became king, and the LORD has given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son, and here you are in your evil, for you are a man of bloods.9And Abishai son of Zeruiah said to the king, "Why does this dead dog blaspheme my lord the king? Let me cross over, please, and remove his head."10And the king said, "What have I to do with you, sons of Zeruiah? He curses in this way, for the LORD said to him, 'Curse David,' and who can say, 'Why did you do so?'"11And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, "See, my son who came out from my loins is seeking my life. How much more now the son of my right—let him alone and let him curse, because the LORD said to him."12Perhaps the LORD will see my affliction, and the LORD will return good to me in place of his curse this day.13And David and his men went on the way, and Shimei went alongside the mountain opposite him, going and blaspheming and pelting stones opposite him and dust at his men.14And the king came and all the people who were with him weary, and they refreshed themselves there.
